Wells Fargo Credit Card Scam
Yesterday I received a txt message saying my Wells Fargo MasterCard was put on security hold, that if I clicked a link, I could remove the hold. I don’t have a Wells Fargo card, scam. Then I got an email….hmm….then today I got a phone call. A recorded message says my card was put on hold. I’ve had credit cards that were bought by new companies, maybe one of my cards was. So I called Wells Fargo. It’s a total scam.
Rules to live by and keep you safe:
- No bank should ever ask for your account number or other vital info, anywhere except on their secure site. Don’t share your info.
- Never click a link and expect it to be a secure site. Always go to your banks website and enter your info there, where it’s secure.
- In doubt, pick up the phone and call the bank.
Any link coming to you in txt or email should be considered a security risk, unless you know the person.
I was scammed on EVE Online, an online game, a few months ago. Someone sent me an email, that looked official, saying my account had been sold. It’s not uncommon for players to sell accounts so I wasn’t alarmed. I just thought it was a mistake. So, I clicked the link that took me to a page that looked exactly like the real one. I entered my login and password. No less than 15 minutes later I was locked out of my own account.
Don’t be dumb like me.
Yeah, I love it when I get these for a Discover card. Never had a Discover card. My favoriite is when you call and they actually try to sell you into getting a Discover card to fish for your information.
It’s even better when the number they text you to call is a pay phone at a prison. Seriously?
LOL a prison?!? Thanks to being hit in EVE, I’m very cautious. On a random note, do you like to shoot zombies? hahah I created a zombie combat sim in Second Life, let me know if you wanna try it.
